The Story of ELPASO

It Started in Khon Kaen

ELPASO began with an opportunity — and a feeling that the time was right. Chef Grand had built up the knowledge and the ideas; what he needed was a place to bring them to life. That place became an immersive dining hall within The Salil Hotel Riverside Bangkok, carrying with it the soul of Khon Kaen, the province where it all started.

The vision was clear: Modern Tapas with a genuine Spanish identity, made from local Thai ingredients. The name itself — ELPASO — means moving forward, toward new things that are better.

The Story of Chef Grand

Where Technique Meets Emotion

Chef Donlawat “Grand” Srisumran leads the kitchen — recognized for his creativity, modern technique, and devotion to flavor. His journey spans Thailand and Canada, fine-dining rooms, chef’s-table concepts, and a Michelin-starred kitchen.

The menu is personal. As he puts it, he is someone who cooks and someone who loves to eat — and ELPASO is where the experiences he gathered are brought together in a new way, with a meaning all their own.

— Why Local Matters

Great Flavor Starts With the Land

For us, local ingredients are about more than taste — they’re about sustainability and supporting the farmers who grow them. We believe Thai ingredients are just as good as those from anywhere else. From Wagyu beef raised in Khon Kaen to produce grown across the country, what’s best is often closest to home.

— The Theme

A Night of Masks & Mystery

ELPASO opens its doors as a Masquerade — elegant, theatrical, and full of intrigue. A walkway dressed in masks welcomes you in, setting the tone for an evening where everyone is part of the spectacle.
